The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating an industrial forklift truck and related equipment to accomplish various materials handling assignments at client location.  The role will also perform cleaner responsibilities based on staffing need.


  • Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, railroad cars, trucks, and storage areas.
  • Applies understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
  • Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
  • Perform tasks and operate tools according to Cal/OSHA and Company safety standards
  • Maintain stored materials in clean and orderly condition.
  • Participate in spill response and clean up as required.
  • Participate as a team member of custodians who clean both Manufacturing and Office areas with extra attention to detail. 
  • Reports any problems with materials or transportation to supervisor.
  • Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to truck mechanic.
  • Accurately records materials received, moved, inventoried, shipped in client/company data bases.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.


  • Six-12 months experience operating forklift and related (trash compactor, pallet wrapper, etc.) equipment and vehicles safely and sensibly
  • Knowledge of safe loading and unloading from trucks, docks, railway trucks and storage areas
  • Clean driving record
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedure and operating manual for safe operation of equipment
  • Ability to organize and maintain materials and goods in proper stored condition
  • Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions
  • Warehouse, inventory control, or material handling/storage experience
  • Knowledge of material storage practices, including hazardous substances inventory storage
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and equipment operation procedures
  • Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness
  • Must be able to move and lift up to 40-pound wooden skid, pallet and/or other item(s)
  • Self-starter, motivated and reliable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or ability to learn company programs and systems a plus
  • High school diploma, GED preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Certification:        Forklift driving certification
